We do not know how long the Corona pandemic will last months to years may be. It is not that all will be over and well after 3 or 6 weeks. As of today we work against it as per our knowledge and research up to now. Future will bring advancement in care prevention and cure e.g. our very own scientists from Pune have developed a cheaper and faster diagnostic test for its detection which will help us a great deal in limiting its spread.
1) I AM YOUNG, I WILL NOT CONTRACT THE INFECTION
The novel Corona Virus knows no caste, creed, age or religion. It can affect individuals of any age group. Children and elderly are the most vulnerable. The best way to combat the infection is by boosting up one’s immune system. A good nutritious diet, diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables is of immense importance. Curtail diets with processed food. Consumption of white sugar and sugary foodstuffs should be avoided.
2) NEED TO WEAR N -95, MASKS ONLY
The N-95 masks are extremely important for the healthcare workers. It is not recommended for everyone. The common populace needs to use mask when venturing out to crowded areas, or when attending to the sick or when the individual is suffering.
3) THE VIRUS WILL SETTLE DOWN WITH THE WEATHER
This virus though new is by now known to thrive in colder climate. But to hope that it will disappear with increasing temperatures there is no clarity. Protect yourself with appropriate clothings and take essential precautions with respect to hand hygiene and social distancing.
4) TAKING HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE WILL GIVE ME PROTECTION
Do not take any medication without the prescription from a specialist. No anti-viral, or antibiotic has been effective. Over the counter prescription of hydro chloroquine should be discouraged. There is no evidence regarding the efficacy of this drug either for it’s prophylaxis or for the treatment of this condition. It’s important to remember that every drug has potential side effects.
5) LOCKDOWN WILL ELIMINATE THE DISEASE
Aggressive lockdown will not eliminate the disease, but will prevent and reduce the transmission of the virus. This will help reduce the morbidity and mortality and also help preserve our health resources.
